Covid Safety Guidelines

GUIDELINES LAST UPDATED MAY 8, 2022

MLQ will update this page regularly and continue to share resources in line with federal, state and local sporting organization guidelines. These guidelines and best practices are intended for use when and if your local authorities have deemed it safe to return to the pitch. MLQ in no way endorses holding practices, games or tournaments in violation of any federal, state or local mandates. Questions can be directed to the MLQ Covid Task Force at covid19@mlquadball.com.

MLQ takes the health and safety of our athletes, staff, volunteers and communities seriously. As the spread of COVID-19 continues, we have been collaborating with US Quidditch to monitor conditions in the U.S. and independently monitoring conditions in Canada.

MLQ will continue to update our concerns and recommendations via this page, and we urge our community to follow guidelines dictated by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Public Health Agency of Canada in regards to managing the spread of the virus, which may include limiting the number or scope of gatherings and events. COVID-19 recommendations change every day and we, along with our partner USQ, will continue to monitor and adjust our best practices as we learn more.

Franchises should stay up-to-date with their national, regional and local government warnings about the virus as situations can change rapidly and are location-dependent.

Vaccination Documentation

This season, MLQ’s Return to Play Guidelines will be factoring an individual’s COVID-19 vaccination status into whether or not they will be eligible to attend certain events held at certain tiers of play. An event’s tier will be based on the surrounding COVID-19 rates in the area, and the vaccination status of the individuals attending that event. Franchise staff, athletes, officials, volunteers and other MLQ affiliates can provide the MLQ Covid Task Force with this information below.

REPORT A VIOLATION

If you believe an MLQ affiliate has broken one of the MLQ Return to Play Guidelines, we encouraged you to fill out the MLQ Covid Disciplinary Review Form. If an individual wishes to discuss or directly report questionable behavior or a possible violation of the MLQ Covid Code of Conduct, they are encouraged to first work with their franchise manager in resolving their concern. If an individual chooses this option, they can email the appropriate franchise manager at their franchise email found on our contact page. If you are a franchise manager, you are encouraged to email MLQ People Operations at peopleops@mlquadball.com. If neither are appropriate, please contact MLQ through any of the following methods:

  1. Email MLQ People Operations at peopleops@mlquadball.com

  2. Email the MLQ Commissioners at commissioners@mlquadball.com

Speak directly with an MLQ Director that is on-site at an event. A list of our directors can be found here.
