MLQ Updates Franchise Radii for 2025 Season
MLQ has updated our franchise radii policies for the 2025 season to ensure clear eligibility guidelines and maintain divisional balance. These updates define where athletes must reside to qualify for an MLQ franchise or practice squad roster.
Each MLQ franchise will continue to have a designated geographic radius within which athletes must reside to be eligible for both franchise and practice squad rosters. These boundaries vary by team, with details outlined in MLQ’s official franchise eligibility policy.
To be considered for a roster spot, an athlete must reside within their franchise’s radius for at least 60 days between June 1 and August 19. MLQ may require proof of residency, such as an active lease, utility bill, gym membership, or state-issued ID. Providing false residency information may result in player suspensions, bans, and penalties for franchise leadership.
Recognizing that some athletes may live outside the established radii, MLQ offers a radius waiver for case-by-case exemption consideration. Athletes must apply for this waiver each season, regardless of prior approvals. However, MLQ has determined that waivers exceeding approximately 250 miles generally will not be approved.
As previously mentioned, practice squad players must adhere to the same radius rules as franchise roster players.
