New York sweeps Minneapolis, stays undefeated

New York Titans keeper Eric Pagoada finishes through contact against Minneapolis Monarchs chaser Ben Zimet.

The undefeated East Division champion New York Titans swept the Minneapolis Monarchs in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals and preserve their perfect record. The Titans claimed the first contest by an emphatic score of 170-30 and secured their spot in the next round with a 215-10 victory.

In game one inside on Pitch One, New York jumped out to a commanding 60-0 lead behind early hat tricks from veteran keeper Jon Jackson and Rutgers University standout chaser Jahved Cole. Titans beater Devin Lee opened large windows for his team and the deep New York beating corps settled into a long stretch of dodgeball control. Behind their dominance, chaser Leo Fried scored the next three goals for the Titans in the middle portion of the game to extend the advantage to 90-10.

The Titans eventually closed out the game conceding only 30 points, a total that they would best two hours later in the second game, when they allowed a shocking total of 10 points. The New York chaser defense was quick and physical in a way that caught the soaring Monarchs, fresh off a triumphant run through the play-in bracket in the morning, off guard.

In the semifinals, New York will meet the North Division champion Chicago Prowl, who vanquished their South Division foes the San Antonio Soldados in a redemptive two-game sweep.
