Quad Quips: Week Four
Submissions undergo light copy editing for clarity.
MLQ athletes have a lot to say and now we’re giving them space to broadcast those opinions weekly. “Quad Quips” is a series consisting of player thoughts and feelings from around MLQ. Each week a randomly-selected batch of athletes are sent a number of questions and prompts for which to respond. The majority are open-ended though multiple choice surveys are sometimes included.

Who is the player to watch this weekend and why?
“Ally Manzella. She's gonna prove exactly how valuable she is to our squad after missing our series vs. the Detroit Innovators.” - Liam Zach, Chicago Prowl
“Matt Troy. Minneapolis no longer has all the size in this matchup. In fact, the Matt Troy Poster Club will be accepting applications on Saturday at Minneapolis's center hoop. Bring ice.” - Matt "Gramps" Melton, Chicago Prowl
“Cody Narveson deserves to be in that conversation of number one beater in the North. I think this weekend he has a good chance to show his 2022 MVP season was no fluke.” - Bryan Melchior, Toronto Raiders
“Louis Sanchez has been talking all sorts of smack already this season. I think all eyes are on him to back it up!” - Emma Person, Minneapolis Monarchs
“Emma Persons is about to remind everyone why they’re one of the best facilitators in the league.” - Max Meier, Minneapolis Monarchs
“Joe Goulet is looking to pair up with Emma Persons in a LeBron & Wade-esque duo of playmaking and thunderous dunks. I care so little about those East games, but like go, Ryan Davis, I guess.” - Mike Devine, Minneapolis Monarchs
“SWATHIIIIIII 🐐” - Annika Kim, New York Titans
“Adrian Koretsky -- are they the best beater at this East Superseries? (Yes)” - Nathan Podolsky, Minneapolis Monarchs
“Nadja Melby, beater from Minneapolis. This will be the first time they have played with the Minnesota core in multiple years, fresh off a national championship with Boom Train. A strong performance from them could solidify a Minneapolis advantage in the beater game which may be enough to turn the series in Minneapolis’ favor.” - Zeke Majeske, Minneapolis Monarchs
Which player matchup deserves all eyes this weekend? Why?
“Emma Persons vs. Kennedy Murphy. Emma is finally coming back from injury and should be instrumental in coordinating that offense, in a similar light to Kennedy Murphy.” ” - Liam Zach, Chicago Prowl
“Zachary Thompson vs. Shane McConaghie. Both leading scores for their teams last year. One is money from anywhere on the field, the other has a nickname.” - Braxton Hale, Charlotte Aviators
“Nathan Digmann vs. Alexander-Paul "OB" Ogbeide. Will Digmann continue his dominance and chase another double double or triple double? I think OB Is the one who has the best chance to stand in his way.” - Bryan Melchior, Toronto Raiders
“Tad Walters vs. Cody Narveson–Walters has a lot of pressure with the absence of the best two beaters from Prowl last season. It will be fun to see if he can build off his strong performance vs. Detroit.” - Louis Sanchez, Austin Outlaws
“We gotta be watching Hayden Boyes vs. Jay Stewart, right? Two extremely dominant, young players that play with tons of energy - I think it'll be exciting to watch.” - Emma Persons, Minneapolis Monarchs
“Me vs. Tad Walters' overinflated ego.” - Nadja D'Rainah Melby, Minneapolis Monarchs
“Veronica Hoffman vs. Meredith Mcdowell. Veronica had the better of Meredith when they faced each other during the USQ season. I would love to see their matchup in such a high-stakes game.” - Ojas Turekar, Chicago Prowl
Our #MLQ2024 Series of the Week is the Minneapolis Monarchs hosting the Chicago Prowl. Give us your thoughts.
“Chicago had the highest ratio of chaser stops to beater stops (4.56:1) so far this season. I wonder if the chasers are gonna have to keep that pace up against a deep Minneapolis beater core.” - Bryan Melchior, Toronto Raiders
“It’s Minneapolis’ turn to take back the North. What a better place to make a statement than at home?” - Max Meier, Minneapolis Monarchs
“Those Chicago kitties get butterflies in their stomachs, hacking up two hairballs en route to fumbling a divisional title.” - David Banas Jr., Detroit Innovators
“The defending North Division Champions looked really shaky against Detroit. If they don't fix some glaring weaknesses there will be a new monarch crowned this weekend.” - Nadja D'Rainah Melby, Minneapolis Monarchs
“Prowl is missing the playmaking ability of Ryley Andrews. If their roster is missing any other key pieces like their first series, then look for Minneapolis to win the series. Otherwise, I have Chicago taking it 2-1.” - Louis Sanchez, Austin Outlaws
“The winner of this series has won the division every year since COVID. It’s unfortunate that we’re getting it so early in the season, but the 2-1 split of Chicago vs. Detroit opens up interesting scenarios for final standings in the North. I’m expecting another split series here to add to the chaos before Minneapolis travels to Detroit next month.” - Zeke Majeske, Minneapolis Monarchs
“If Prowl plays how they played against Detroit, it’s easy dubs for the Monarchs.” - Milena Sousa, San Antonio Soldados
“Prowl in two. Maybe one game in range if they're lucky.” - Tad Walters, Chicago Prowl
